We used to stay up all night talking, but we don't talk much anymore I was standing in my room reading old letters when I fell flat dead on the floor And I'll lie and rot inbetween all of of my memories who have known all along just who I'd come to be in 2014 It's been almost 3 years since the day I woke you up with a coffee and a kiss and said "I'm sorry friend, I am leaving again, but I promise that I'll miss every aspect of your company" Stay in touch, we never do. But every day I see at least a dozen that make me think of you, and it kills me So all my ducks are in a basket, all my ducks are in a basket again. And every day I slip further away from all of my old friends. Can't you see how it hurts me? And so I won't get up in the morning and come into your bed and say "Valerie, you're so cool, let's make out until we're dead" Don't get up in the morning and come into my room. You know we shouldn't be friends. You know I'm leaving soon. And it kills me. (the end rips off the song "morning" by mammary http://www.destructochard.org/mammary/november2009/ though I had only heard the Sundance Kids cover of it https://skateboarders.bandcamp.com/track/morning

Candy Ludo 02:45
Have you ever been to the moon and back? Have you ever been to the moon at all? I've never been to the moon and back, but I think I've come closer than most. Floating down from the trees. Standing on ground. Swimming in seas. Nobody recognizes me when I'm gliding. Have you ever left the atmosphere to find it didn't want you back? Have you ever felt unhappy here, and suddenly snapped out of it? Floating down from the trees. Standing on ground. Swimming in seas. Nobody recognizes me when I'm gliding. Bidding well the afternoon Climbing up 500 steps. Looking out at 40 miles. I'll never feel stuck again. For anywhere is everywhere, and anyone is everything. Candy takes a photograph, and it turns into a dream I guess. Floating down from the trees. Standing on ground. Swimming in seas. Nobody recognizes me when I'm gliding.

It's okay, it's alright, I'll dye the bottom half of every pair of my pants white. And it's alright, I'm not dead, I'll write the "F word" down on my forehead.

Zipping, unzipping, and pulling out. A piece of your stuffing has fallen out. The wind will uplift it and blow it 'round. It's naught but I want it, it's naught but I wanted it. With looping and spinning I'm on my toes, and where will it leave me nobody knows. It feels like I'm floating through the air. It's naught but I want it, it's naught but I wanted it.

Lucky Fun 01:55
I bet that you'd hang out with me if I was a pretty thing, if I was anything. I am someone you shouldn't be seen with, I've done crimes that you wouldn't believe. But you're not the only one who knows me, you're not the only one who has seen how I am capable of intentionally destroying a lovely thing. Down on Washington I've gotta watch my step, for there are people who want me dead. I'm just trying to keep my head on. And I could slip by undetected, but they're not the only ones who know me. They're not the only ones who have seen how I am capable of intentionally destroying a lovely thing. The moon was out in the deep south when you found out for yourself. Yea, my demon let itself out, and it was ugly, and you said "oh my god!" But you're not the only one who knows me, you've not the only one who has seen how I am capable of intentionally destroying a lovely thing.

Yogi 02:17
Clothes strewn on the floor like any other day. I suppose I don't owe my blankets any decency. Maybe it's the last leg, maybe it is the worst, but at least my bed is low to the ground. When you wake to find me covered in satin cloth, passed out at the foot of gossamer albatross, fly me to tomorrow, fly me over today, and I will not say nothing for I've nothing nice to say. Take me on a journey, take me to class with you. Show me how somebody ought to spend an afternoon. And if there is but one thing that I've to ask of you: please fly us low to the ground. Nothing but an crooked rascally evil thing stuck inside an ugly cowardly lumpy dream. I am neither yogi nor any sacred being. And if there is somebody who needs putting away, come now take me quickly to where I am to lay. And I will remain silent, for what could I even say while I'm being laid in the ground?

Empire 02:00
Everybody put in your 2 cents now. Has the time come to climb o'er the fence now? Is it as easy as just hopping over? Will we emerge to fields filled with clover? Gather 'round the stone, please don't panic. Freedom is there if you reach out and grab it. We will make plans to set off at sunrise. Slowly, steadily sound out the war cry. And when we march past the highway, everybody will be sliding their cars sideways. They will open up their doors and come running, and we will leave this place like it was nothin'.

Exercise 01:36
When it's coming up everybody's feeling good, everybody's looking good. When it's going down all the fingers start pointing out for reasons that no one will talk about. I swear I'll pull this thing over to the side of the interstate, find a hotspot, just sit and surf all day. Why am I so affected by the waves that nobody sees? They're always passing through everyone, but they don't pass through me. Before the tide goes out, will you show me how? Will you teach me what it's all about? Like why am I so affected by the waves that nobody sees? They're always passing through everyone and crashing into me.

Love 01:25
It's kind of weird just hanging out all the time. Wish that I had some free time to try to sort out my mind. And I know I haven't seen you since Monday, but I work until 6 and then band practice or something. Got a pile of letters I need to write, some books that I need to read, some purpose I need to find. I don't feel like I'm really doing all that much just shaking my butt at punk shows every night. But after everyone else went home I cried alone in my bed. And so like Gizmo said that Bender said, "I can't wait to see you again" "Will you come over and talk to me?" Well I guess that I can, but I just got home from tour like 5 minutes ago, man. And I know that you're feeling sad, but you know, I'm feeling sad, and I didn't sleep last night. But I guess that I already wrote a song about that, it's called "The Third Wind" and it's on "Ford in His Flivver." So I'll spend the night just walking around thinking of all of the times that I've been sadder than now. But when I got home I was devastated that you'd already left. And so like Gizmo said that Bender said, "I can't wait to see you again, my friend"

about

In April 2013 I was eating burritos with Kyle Hall and Garrett Walters and friends in New Lenox, IL and Kyle got a nosebleed that wouldn't stop. While he was holding his nose he started seeing words in the ceiling, and I wrote them all down on a napkin and told him that I would name all of the songs on an album after them. Every couple of months he texts me some gibberish that I assume is more ceiling visions, but have no current plans of "kyle gets a nosebleed II."

Madeline Ava made the art.
I recorded it in the basement at the end of south washington.
Gary Whelpdale mixed it.

The elusive Ghost Friend Records (3733 1/2 Chamoune Ave San Diego, CA 92105) put it out on tape.

Thanks to Dillon, "The Gray Witch," who I had to call for some of the lyrics that I had forgotten.
